Elastomeric coatings are ideal for the following roof types:
- Polyurethane foam
- Single-ply roofing
- Modified bitumen
- Built-up roofing (BUR)
Long-lasting elastomeric coatings are resistant to common issues such as mildew that, over time, can damage roofs.
Another advantage of the coatings is that they are seamless, which means your roof gets a neat, uniform coating. Elastomeric coatings offer protection from heat and light, which lowers cooling costs and increases the life of your roof. Elastomeric roof coatings are also VOC compliant and nontoxic. There are four types of elastomeric coating:
- Butyl – This type of elastomeric roof coating is the best for flat roof repair, low-sloping roofs (i.e. single-ply or built-up PVC). Butyl has a very superior water pounding resistance and acts as a vapor barrier.
- Acrylic – Acrylic roof coating is ideal for highly sloped roofs, is environmental friendly and has a long life span.
- Polyurethane – Polyurethane coating is best for EPDM rubber roofs but can also be used on modified bitumen and single ply roofs.
- Silicone – Silicone is an ideal coating for polyurethane foam roofs. It’s highly effective for repairing weathering and for recoating roofs; especially those that already have silicone coatings.
